CLA STUNS OMSD SPORTS LEAGUE AND DEFEATS DE ANZA 22-14!

After defeating vineyard stem academy and pulling off an improbable tie versus WILTSEY Middle School, The CLA Tigers once again proved that their first 2 victories weren't a fluke and and added to their already mythical reputation by defeating the mighty Cougars of De Anza Middle School!

As always the Tiger defense proved to be a determining factor in the game.  Coming off two goal line stances in what can now be considered an ESPN CLASSIC game, the starting CLA defense gave up their only touch down of the game when Angel Novoa over played a read coverage and De Anza threw a touchdown over his outstretched hands.  In the waning minute of the game, coach Monge put in the CLA Starting 5th grade reserve team, lead by Taj Heard and Austin Alvarez which was scored upon by De Anza's first string team. Although De Anza's last score is considered to be a source of contention, the final score stood at 22-14 in favor of the 'small but fierce' CLA Tigers!! Ricardo Sainz had his best game at quarter back, throwing for a touchdown and several completions. Robert Garnica had a touch down pass to Jose Sedano, his second of touch down  on the day, which  can only be described as being in the right place at the right time.

Rian Roy, the junior stand out, returned a punt for a touchdown.

The offensive line of Miguel and Angel Novoa, Angel Flores, and tight ends Tristan Sanchez and Rian Roy, we  lead by the ferocious tenacity of Christopher Banda in buying enough time for Sainz and Garnica to work their magic.  The reserves got into the defensive action as Taj Heard and Isaac Santana both pulled their first flags of the season.  There is no rest for the Tigers as they finish the week off with a game on Thursday against cross town rival The Edison Eagles at Vina Danks Middle School and then travel to Vernon Middle School on Friday.  Both games have a start time of 3:30 p.m.

ONE TEAM-CLA!
